We invite you to experience the tranquility and sustainable luxury of Tanmatrra™, where every element of nature and comfort is harmoniously intertwined.
Tanmatrra, meaning “subtle elements,” is the essence of our resort, designed to harmonize with nature’s elements. All of our cottages and rooms are named after one of the following elements.
Earth (Prithvi): Our walls are crafted from the site’s earth, meticulously rammed and hardened over time, reflecting a deep connection to the land.
Water (Jala): A brook meanders along the property, transforming into a roaring river during the monsoons, providing the resort’s water supply.
Fire (Agni): Solar power is our primary energy source, complemented by individual fireplaces in each cottage’s backyard. Traditional Malenadu wood-fired stoves, “Astra Ole,” are used for cooking, with residual heat warming the bathing water.
Air (Vayu): The air here is cool, crisp, and fresh, often adorned with mist. Wind chimes in every room celebrate this vital element.
Ether (Akasha): Nestled in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains, our resort boasts a unique micro-ecosystem. The weather is consistently cool, with occasional drizzles even when none are forecasted. Visitors are advised to bring rain gear and sunscreen.
Experience the subtle elements of Tanmatrra, where every detail is in harmony with nature.
Life at Tanmatrra is slow paced and mindful. Tanmatrra might not be your cup of tea (or coffee ) if you want high speed internet, loud entertainment, fast food and partying.
Tanmatrra is a pioneer in the area as an Eco-luxury resort. (Greater emphasis on the Eco part). We practice the 4 R’s: REDUCE, RECYCLE/UPCYCLE, REUSE, and REFUSE, right from the construction of our walls to its day-to-day operation. We reduce our carbon footprint by sourcing almost everything locally. Yes, some of our things aren’t perfect, as all the construction materials from the doors, windows, and roof tiles are sourced from local abandoned homes, and the furniture is upcycled wood using local artisans. We are proud to be the region’s first rammed earth construction and are 100% solar-powered.
While we may not offer the opulent amenities of fancy 5 star, we believe in providing a serene and rejuvenating environment with clean and comfortable accommodations where guests can reconnect with nature and enjoy a simpler, healthier lifestyle.
Please note that we are a single plastic-free zone. If you bring any with you, please take them back home, as we don’t have a recycling program in the region.
Kindly turn off lights and fans when not in use.
Kindly serve yourselves only how much you can eat.
There’s no TV and Air conditioning in the units.
Our resort is designed to chill and enjoy the scenery and the vibe. You can take walks and take a dip in the natural stream. We have loads of traditional indoor games, badminton rackets and bicycles to explore. We also offer off road jeep rides (subject to weather conditions and additional cost)
We provide bath soap, toothpowder, toothbrushes, and shikakai.
There’s no TV or a/c in the rooms ( our mud cottages keep it naturally cool)Please carry your own products if you are particular or need something specific ( Makeup wipes, Eye masks, Footwear etc.)
